Louise Jane Williams

Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery

Louise Jane Williams was born February 9, 1916 to the late John and Lula Brown of Powhatan, Virginia. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Stanford Williams, four brothers and five sisters.

At an early age Louise accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she attended regularly until her health declined.

Louise was a member of the Mt. Zion Usher Board for over thirty years; many of those years she served as the President. She was also a member of the Mt. Zion Willing Workers where she was always delighted to bake one of her famous cakes or delicious rolls for their various events. Family and friends were always eager to partake in her scrumptious baking. Louise is mother of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She did not take this position lightly and was very proud of it. She loved her church and church family. Some of her hobbies she enjoyed were fishing, cooking and playing various card games.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three sisters, Shirley Brown, Earlene Wilson of Richmond, VA, Mahala Hargraves, Goochland, VA; one sister-in-law, Kate Brown, Powhatan, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

From this world of pain and sorrow,
To the land of peace and rest,
God has taken our dear loved one,
Where she'll find eternal rest.
God knew that she was suffering
And the hills were hard to climb,
So he closed her weary eyelids,
and whispered, Peace be Thine.
