        On Thursday April 8, 1999, brother William H. Stewart went home to the Lord. William was born on November 21, 1913 to Smith and Minnie Stewart. William was an only child.

        William accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age. He was baptized in Virginia

        He received his education in Wise Co., VA. He served in the Armed Forces during World War II.

        William moved to New York City in 1932 to be with his grandfather. William belonged to Trinity Baptist Church & sang in the gospel choir.

        In 1954 William married Georgette G. Burke of New York City. To this union two children were born, a son William, Jr. and a daughter Yvette. William and Georgette provided a loving home for their children and his parents. They lived in New York City for 32 years and then relocated to Powhatan, VA in 1986. He joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church & sang in the choir. He also sang in the 31st Street Baptist Church male chorus. William was employed by Goodhumor, Inc. He owned a limo service and a Bar and Grill in New York.

        William was lovingly called "The Singing Man" by friends and family. His mission was to spread the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ through song. In 1990 William recorded and album:"Jesus the Savior of the Land".
