Virginia Gladys Morris Sadler

Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery

Virginia Gladys Morris Sadler departed this life on September 27, 2005. She was born in Powhatan County, Virginia on October 12, 1913. Virginia was the 7th of eleven children born to the late George and Annie Bell Morris.

Virginia was baptized into the fellowship of the Mount Zion Baptist Church at an early age. She was a member of the Willing Worker's Club and served the people through out the community for many years. She attended the Powhatan County Public Schools.

After completion of her education in Powhatan County, she moved to Richmond, Virginia, where she served as a governess. After serving in this position for many years, she decided to move to New York City. There she met and married her one true love, Milton Sadler, her husband of 57 years. They lived in New York for many years, and in 1978 they moved to Powhatan where she resided until her passing. After moving to Powhatan, Virginia's "green thumbs" were very busy in her yard, planting, pruning and weeding, trees, shrubs, flowers and just about anything that would grow into a thing of beauty. When she was no longer able to plant live flowers she planted artifical ones. Her yard was admired by many.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Milton Sadler; two daughters, Ann Jacqueline Sadler and Sharon Allen; a son, Lewis Johnson; two grandsons, George and Jevon; three brothers, Carl, Elton, and Earl Morris; a brother-in-law, Albert Royal; one sister-in-law, Helen Morris; a devoted niece and nephew, Kay Wilson and Webster Roy Morris; three devoted cousins, Karen Bell, Mabel Gilliam and Dorothea Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
