He was employed with Allen Industries of New Jersey for about years, retiring in 1989.

In 1991, he returned to Virginia to make his home. He then resided with his sister and brother-in-law, Annabelle and Al Royal.

Joel was a quiet humble person who loved his family. He will be missed in his home, church and community.

On Friday, October 21, 1994, he departed this life at Johnston Willis Hospital, Richmond, Virginia, after a brief illness.

He leaves to cherish fond memories a daughter, Flortinia Jackson, a son, Roger Joel Dargan, five grandchildren, four sisters, Ellen Williams, Annabelle Royal, Alice Whittaker and Virginia Sadler; four brothers, Ivory, Carl, Elton and Earl Morris, one daughter-in-law, Loretta Dargan; one son-in-law, David Jackson; three sisters-in-law, Helen, Clara and Bernice Morris; two brothers-in-law, Al Royal, one devoted Milton Sadler, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

God knew that you were suffering,
And hills were hard to climb
so he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered "Peace Be Thine".

The present only is our own
Live, toil with good will,
Place no faith in tomorrow
For the Clock may then be still.
