Bernice Mayo Morris

Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery

Bernice Mayo Morris, a daughter of the late Berry and Anna Mayo was born December 2, 1912, in Powhatan County, VA.

She was reared in a home with the love and affection of four sisters and four brothers.

As an adult Bernice was converted, baptized and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Where she was a member of the church choir and Willing Workers Club.

Bernice was joined in Holy Matrimony to Webster Morris. Her husband preceded her in death.

She was a quiet person who was always willing to help others in the community. She took pride in helping those who were sick, or those who wanted baked goods or a meal cooked. She will be missed from our church, home and community.

For about nine months she has been in failing health and departed this life at Chippenham Hospital, Richmond, VA. on Wednesday, August 14, 1996.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son Webster Morris, Jr.; one brother, Floyd Mayo; six sisters-in-law, Virginia Sadler, Ellen Williams, Alice Whittaker, Annie Bell Royal, Helen Morris and Clara Morris; five brothers-in-law, Ivory, Carl, Earl and Elton Morris, Milton Sadler and Albert Royal, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

God must have loved her very much,
And we have loved her too,
We know how many helpful things
her kind hands found to do.
But till we reach that happy place
Where griefs are all consoled,
We'll never know that joy she's found
Beyond the sunset's gold.
