Catherine C. Sims Miles

        Catherine C. Sims Miles was born on December 20, 1930 in Goochland, Va. to the late John Sims and Mary Kenny Sims.

        She attended the public schools in Goochland, Va. At an early age she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church. She later joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was a faithful member and served on the Deaconess Ministry.

        Catherine was blessed with many gifts, among them was devotion. She was devoted to God, Family, church family and community.

        Catherine departed this life on August 4, 2003 at Johnston-Willis Hospital, Richmond, Va. after a lengthy illness.

        Left to celebrate her life are: her husband, of 56 years, Linwood T. Miles, Sr.; her son, Linwood T. Miles, Jr.; three daughters, Louise Williams, Bernice Miles and Gloria Nash; one granddaughter, Brianna Monic Nash; two sons-in-law, Lenwood Williams and Gerald Nash; four sisters, Vennie Stewart, Alice Sims, Margaret Young, and Lucy Turner; two sisters-in-law, Bessie Miles and Mary Jones; seven brothers-in-law, Ernest Miles, Wilson Miles, Floyd Miles, Andrew Miles, Floyd Harden, Wilmore Sharp and Henry Young; a host of nieces, nephews and many devoted friends including Mabel Walton, Mabel Gilliam, Gail Hairston, and Kate Brown.

        She was preceded in death by: four sisters, Martha Turner, Laura Sharp, Josephine Harden and lettie Bolling; three brothers, John Sims, Jr., John Warner Harden and Spencer Cephas.
