        Roy William Jackson, Sr., a son of the late Charlie Jackson and Virgie Miles Jackson was born May 6, 1927 in Powhatan County, Virginia.

        At an early age Roy was converted, baptized and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He attended the public schools in Powhatan.

        Roy was self-employed in the logging business until he became disabled.

        He was a pleasant person, and a devoted father and grandfather. Thoughout his illness he was happy and he never complained.

        For about two years he has been in failing health and departed this life on Saturday, August 18, 2001 at HealthSouth Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

        He leaves to cherish fond memories: a son, Roy William Jackson, Jr.; two daughters, Florence Carrington and Barbara Jackson: seven grandchildren; seven brothers; Walter, William, Charlie, Lawrence, Arthur, Joseph and Bennie; eight sisters; Minerva Randolph, Mary Scruggs, Charlotte Jackson, Virgie Taylor, Ida Jackson, Maude Britt, Mahalia Turner and Lenell Smith; four aunts, Elma Hubbard, Rosetta Johnson, Christine Crump and Mary Carter; a son-in law, James Carrington; three brothers-in-law, Charles Turner, Joe Taylor and Allen Smith; three sisters-in-law; Mable, Rosa and Diane Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

and took you in his care."
