Gladys Irene Bell Jackson

        Gladys Irene Jackson was born in Powhatan, Virginia on June 12, 1922. She demised, Monday, March 16, 1992 at the Greater Southeast Community Hospital in Washington, DC. She was the daughter of the late Cora E. Bell.

        Gladys always had a keen interest and a desire to work in Early Childhood Development. Her primary and secondary education were in the public schools in Powhatan, Virginia. She matriculated in achievement for her degree in Childhood Development at Federal City College, District of Columbia. Her tenure as a teacher, was followed by establishing and operating a successful catering business.

        At an early age Gladys accepted Christ and was Baptized at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Powhatan, Virginia. She was currently a faithful member at the First Baptist Church of Marshall Heights in Washington, D.C. Gladys was united in Holy Matrimony to George N. Jackson, who preceded her in death. From this union she leaves to cherish her memory four children, George A., Gerry N., Gwendolyn T. and Cassandra A. Jackson. One Step-son, Joseph Wilson; five grandchildren: Andre, Tiffany, Andrea, Gerry and Jessica; Two sisters: Mary E. Palmore and Gertrude McCruty; One God-daughter, Paulette Heath; One devoted Cousin, Ophelia Watson; One Daughter-in-Law, Earlene Jackson, Two Sister-in-Laws: Lillian Jackson and Mary Jones; Nieces, Nephews, other relatives, a devoted friend Johnnie Johnson and many many friends.
