William Lorenzo Batchelor

        William Lorenzo Batchelor "Bill" a son of the late William A. Batchelor and Sadie Morris Batchelor was born in Powhatan, VA on January 7, 1946.

        At an early age he was converted, baptized and became a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

        He was educated in the public schools of Powhatan and graduated from Pocahontas High School. After school he moved to New Jersey to seek employment. He was employed as a carpenter for 10 years, he then worked as a lab technician at Schering Pharmaceutical Corp. in Bloomfield, NJ for 17 years. In 1990 he moved back to Powhatan where he was self employed. Bill was a loving father and a dear friend. He was a very hard working man, kind hearted and a pleasurable person to be around. He was willing to help anyone in anyway he could. He was a soft spoken person who always had a smile for everyone.

        On Friday, December 2, 1994 he departed this life suddenly at Johnston Willis Hospital in Richmond, VA.

        In 1968 he married Brenda Jones and had three daughters, one preceded him in death, Stephanie Tonyal Batchelor. He leaves to mourn Cassandra and Tonya Batchelor of NJ; one granddaughter, Regina Jenkins; a devoted friend and companion Jona Garrett; three sisters, Phyllis Johnson and Marion Robinson of Washington and Geraldine Calloway of MD; three brothers, Milton, Roland and Ryland of NJ; three aunts, Bernice Morris of Baltimore, Lucy Taylor of Powhatan and Lillian Stewart of NJ; one sister-in-law, Helen Batchelor and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.





God was walking in His Garden,
One He made with His own hands;
The sun was shining on each blossom,
Young and old, throughout all lands.

In our lives He walked still searching
For a lovely, precious flower;
Pausing here, He found one ready
To be taken at that hour.
