Delcenia Brown

Greenbrier Baptist Church Cemetery

        In His own way and for His own purpose, God has reached down into our garden to pluck one of our fairest flowers. On Sunday, February 14, 1993 He called the spirit of our dearly beloved Delcenia Brown home to be with him throughout eternity.

        Delcenia, a daughter of the late Andrew J. Brown and Ellen Hall Brown, was born in Powhatan County, VA. on September 16, 1924.

        At an early age she was converted, baptized and joined the Greenbrier Baptist Church.

        She attended the public schools in Powhatan graduating with the class of 1942. After school she moved to Montclair, NJ where she was employed with Huntington Nursing Home until she became disabled. She later moved to Medford, NY where she resided until her passing.

        She leaves to cherish fond memories; three sisters, Gay E. Rose of Tenafly, N.J., Jola Roy of Hampton, VA. and Gwendolyn Pettiford of Elizabeth, N.J.; three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joy like the sunrise will come in the morning,
Sorrow and sighing shall cease;
Moments are passing, then life everlasting,
Filled with eternity's peace!

But for a moment to patiently trust him -
Wait till the shadows are passed!
But for a moment; Look up and take courage -
Faith will bring visions at last.
