Gwendolyn R. Booker

        Gwendolyn R. Booker, a daughter of the late Leonard Scott and Elisa Brown was born in Powhatan County, VA, February 23, 1933.

        She attended Mohemenco School and then St. Francis DeSales from which she graduated. Gwen was a faithful member of Greenbrier Baptist Church in Powhatan.

        In 1952 she was joined in wedlock to Clarence James Pettiford. From this union a son Robert was born. In 1994 she married Burley Booker.

        She was employed as a production worker for Shering Plough Pharmaceutical Company from which she retired in 1995.

        For about two years she has been in declining health and departed this life on Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at Lexington Court Nursing Home in Richmond, VA.

        She leaves to cherish fond memories: her husband, Burley Booker; a son, Robert Pettiford; two grandchildren, Maketha Jasmine Thomas and Rajaun Oates; five stepchildren, Latifah Salaam, Karimah Salaam, Delores Booker, Kirkland Booker and Grant Laverett; six step-grandchildren; a sister, Jola Roy; six sisters-in-law, Fannie, Edna and Channie Brown, Augustine Peterson, Olga Congas and Delores Andrews; two brothers-in-law, Henry Andrews and Robert Congas; numerous nieces and nephews; a devoted nieces and nephew Gail and William Jasper; cousins, three devoted, GaElla Matthews, Belle Matthews and Alice Bradley; four family members who were caregivers, Rhonda Scott, Shirley Potts, Thelma Hobson and Venita Bradley; and many friends.
